Welcome to techways, our aim is to provide the producers of the 6 fruitways alliance packsheds with the necessary information, technology and skills to be able to produce high yielding apple and pear crops of top quality. Our aim is to achieve this through:

• technology transfer
• disiminating the latest technology information re newsletters, field days etc.
• doing applied trials in the members orchards
• assisting with compliance management
• assisting to source top quality products at competitive prices
• assisting new entrants in the group with farm management and other inputs required to make them world class producers.

Techways offers the following services to the growers supplying the 6 fruitways alliance packsheds. The services offered by techways includes the following:

• at least 6 annual visits to the growers in the fruitways alliance farms by the technical management of techways to disseminate technical knowledge and assist with problem solving.
• issuing a weekly newsletter, issued every monday morning.
• presenting regular meetings, seminars, field days to empower the growers with knowledge
• doing applied research trials on growers farms, to test the latest research findings .
• producing a comprehensive spray programme , information and guidelines re pest and disease control etc.
• giving comprehensive nutritional advice
• developing a template for the orchard of the future
• giving recipes of how to improve yields substantially and top quality fruit
• valuating new varieties and when and where necessary procuring these varieties for the techways group
• organising study tours for the growers to other production areas in south africa and overseas
• assisting with irrigation scheduling and latest irrigation equipment and design information
• assisting with pre audits for compliance auditing
• assisting with drawing up of farm policies and enabling growers to fulfil good agricultural practice requirements
• assisting with training and development of the growers and their staff
• assiting with ethical trade initiatives and audits
• assisting growers to maintain their sedex registration and requirements
• assisting with implementation of wellness and related programmes on the growers farms
• identifying suppliers that can provide good quality products for apple and pear production and negotiating favourable terms and rates for the supply of these products with these suppliers
• assisting new farmers and new entrants to apple and pear production with management etc on their farms
